Which suburb do you need blinds or shutters in?

Conditions on the Peninsula vary far more than the distances suggest. A sheltered north-facing living room in Mount Eliza and a cliff-top deck at Portsea are different problems requiring different products, and the Western Port side is different again from the bay coast. Each page below covers the homes, weather and product choices specific to that area.

What window furnishings do you supply?

We cover every window in the house rather than specialising in one product. That means one supplier, one measure, and a consistent look across the whole home — which is both cheaper and tidier than buying room by room over several years.

Product Best for
Roller blinds Bedrooms (blockout), living areas (sunscreen or translucent). The most economical custom option.
Motorised blinds Large, high or hard-to-reach windows; banks of windows; homes with young children (no cords).
PVC plantation shutters Bathrooms, kitchens, laundries and any salt-exposed coastal room. Moisture-resistant, wipe clean.
Timber plantation shutters Dry living and sleeping rooms. Wider panels, larger louvres, fewer dividing rails.
Aluminium plantation shutters Outdoor and fully weather-exposed openings. Doubles as privacy and security screening.
S-Fold sheer curtains Soft filtered light and daytime privacy. Layers over a blockout blind for night.
Zipscreen outdoor blinds Alfresco areas, pergolas, verandahs and balconies. Tracked, so it holds firm in wind.

Why does local knowledge matter on the Peninsula?

The Mornington Peninsula is not one climate, and specifying as though it were is the most common way a window furnishing job goes wrong here.

Homes on the bay side get morning light and glare reflected off the water, with moderate salt exposure. Back-beach homes at Rye, Blairgowrie and Portsea take salt-laden southerlies straight off Bass Strait, which is far harder on hardware than anything the bay produces. Inland at Red Hill and Main Ridge the issue is temperature swing rather than salt.

That changes real decisions. Salt air corrodes cheap brackets, chains and motor housings, so exposed sites need hardware specified for it rather than the cheapest option that fits. Persistent wind rules out free-hanging outdoor blinds in favour of tracked Zipscreen. Rooms facing west over the water need sunscreen fabric that cuts glare without deleting the view you paid for.

How does the process work?

  1. Free in-home measure and quote. We come to you anywhere from Frankston to Portsea, measure every opening and go through options room by room. No charge, no obligation.
  2. Samples in your own light. Fabric looks different in a showroom than in your living room at 4pm, so we bring samples to the house.
  3. Custom manufacture. Nothing is off the shelf. Everything is made to your measurements.
  4. Professional installation. Fitted by our own installer, with brackets, cords and motors set up safely.
  5. Lifetime workmanship warranty.

Common questions about our Mornington Peninsula service

Do you charge to travel to the far end of the Peninsula?

No. The measure and quote is free anywhere between Frankston and Portsea, and there is no travel surcharge on installation within that area.

How much do blinds cost on the Mornington Peninsula?

There is no fixed price list, because cost depends on window size, fabric, product type and whether you choose motorisation. Manual roller blinds are the most economical custom option and motorised blinds carry a premium per window. A free in-home measure gives you an exact written figure for your specific windows.

Can you match blinds across a whole house?

Yes, and it is usually the better outcome. Measuring the whole home at once means fabrics, colours and hardware stay consistent, and it is generally more economical than doing rooms piecemeal over several years.

Do you work on holiday houses and rental properties?

Regularly. Holiday properties need hard-wearing, easy-clean products, and they often benefit from motorised blinds on timers so the house looks occupied while you are away. We can coordinate access through an agent, a caretaker or a neighbour if you are not on site.

Which blinds are best for a coastal home near the bay?

Sunscreen or blockout roller blinds with quality Acmeda componentry, or PVC plantation shutters. Salt air degrades cheap hardware and fabric faster than inland conditions, so component quality matters more here than the blind type itself. For rooms facing Port Phillip Bay, sunscreen fabric cuts glare while keeping the view.

How long does a custom blind order take?

Because every blind is made to your measurements rather than pulled off a shelf, there is a lead time between measure and installation. We confirm the exact timeframe when you accept the quote, since it varies by product and fabric availability.
